Bangor, the historic University and Cathedral city is dominated
by the "college on the hill" and lies at the eastern entrance
to the Menai Strait.
It has a busy shopping centre with many high street names,
a theatre, cinema and lively bars and clubs. A short walk
from the hotel is a heated swimming pool and a bowling green.

The ornate Victorian
Pier is
1500 ft long, was built in 1896 and fully restored in 1988.
A stroll to the end gives you the best view
of the Bangor's surrounding countryside and the Menai Strait.

North Wales is
spoilt for historic buildings and within 20 miles of the
hotel are the famous
Caernarfon, Conwy and Beaumaris castle towns which are all
worth a visit. Just outside of Bangor is the neo-Norman
Penrhyn
Castle,
the
former home of a local slate magnate, now run by the National
Trust.

A short drive
over Thomas Telford's impressive Menai Bridge takes you
on to the mystical isle
of Anglesey with
its many bays, beaches and ancient monuments.

Snowdonia
National Park offers everything for the outdoor enthusiast, including
walking, climbing,
canoeing and biking. Wales's National Mountain and Watersports
centres are both a within 30 min drive from the Hotel.
 
For the less
active, a train runs to the top of Mount Snowdon from
the village of Llanberis below.
Children can be entertained
at the award winning Greenwood Forest Park. |
